Critical Disclaimer

KanoonPilot is NOT a law firm. We do not provide legal advice and no attorney-client relationship is created through use of this platform.

KanoonPilot is NOT a substitute for a qualified lawyer. Our AI-generated analysis is informational only. For any legal action, court appearance, or binding decision, always consult a licensed advocate.

AI analysis may contain errors. AI-generated content should be independently verified for critical legal matters, and legal references may only be available where the system has reliable source support.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using the KanoonPilot website and services ("Platform"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"), our Privacy Policy, and all applicable Indian laws and regulations. If you do not agree to any part of these Terms, you must not use the Platform.

"You" refers to the individual accessing or using the Platform. "We," "Us," or "KanoonPilot" refers to the KanoonPilot platform and its operators.

2. Description of Service

KanoonPilot provides the following informational services:

Document Simplification: AI-powered analysis that explains legal documents (FIRs, notices, summons, court orders, etc.) in plain language.
Legal Citation: Identification and citation of relevant sections, Acts, and case law mentioned in or applicable to your document.
Next-Step Guidance: Suggested actions, relevant government offices, and deadline alerts based on the document type.

Legal Glossary: Definitions and explanations of legal terms, including Old Law to New Law mapping (IPC → BNS, CrPC → BNSS, etc.).
Optional Human Follow-Up: In some flows or future offerings, KanoonPilot may surface partner, lawyer, or support escalation options.
All services are informational only. KanoonPilot does not represent you in court, file legal documents on your behalf, or provide legal opinions.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use KanoonPilot independently. Users under 18 may use the Platform only with verifiable parental or guardian consent, in compliance with Section 9 of the DPDP Act, 2023. By using the Platform, you represent and warrant that you meet these eligibility requirements.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree to use KanoonPilot only for lawful purposes. You shall NOT:

Upload documents you do not have a legal right to access or share
Use the Platform to facilitate any illegal activity
Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or extract our AI models, algorithms, or legal database
Upload malicious files, viruses, or content designed to disrupt the Platform
Misrepresent KanoonPilot analysis as official legal advice or a lawyer's opinion
Resell or commercially redistribute our analysis without written agreement
Use automated bots, scripts, or crawlers to access the Platform beyond normal use

5. Document Upload & Processing

5.1 Consent: Before uploading any document, you must provide explicit consent through our consent flow. You confirm that you have the legal right to upload and share the document's contents.

5.2 Processing: Your document is processed by AI to extract text (OCR), identify legal references, and generate a simplified analysis. Human review is not guaranteed and should not be assumed unless we expressly offer it for that flow.

5.3 Retention: Uploaded documents, OCR output, and analysis history may remain associated with your case or workspace until you delete them through available controls or submit a tracked deletion request. See our Privacy Policy for current details.

5.4 Supported Formats: We currently accept PDF, JPG, PNG, and WEBP files up to 10MB. The Platform may decline to process documents that are illegible, in unsupported languages, or not legal documents.

5.5 Upload Responsibility: You remain responsible for the legality and authenticity of what you upload. You must not upload forged, malicious, unlawful, privacy-violating, or unauthorized material. KanoonPilot may block, suspend, remove, preserve for investigation, or report material where required by law or safety review.

5.6 Data Rights & Grievance Flow: For deletion, export, correction, consent withdrawal, or grievance matters, use our Data Rights & Grievance Center so the request receives a formal tracking reference.

6. AI-Generated Content

6.1 Nature: Document analysis on KanoonPilot may include AI-generated content together with OCR text, extracted facts, user corrections, and source-linked elements. Do not assume every screen uses the same label or badge treatment.

6.2 Accuracy: AI analysis may contain errors, omissions, or outdated information. Some result flows may show confidence or verification indicators to help you assess reliability, but you should still verify important points independently.

6.3 No Legal Advice: AI-generated analysis does not constitute legal advice, legal opinion, or legal representation. It is informational content designed to help you understand your document — not to replace a lawyer.

6.4 Updates: We aim to review and refresh legal references over time, including the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA). However, there may be a lag between legislative changes and product updates.

7. Intellectual Property

7.1 Platform: The KanoonPilot platform, including its design, code, AI models, legal database, brand, and all content (excluding user-uploaded documents), is owned by KanoonPilot and protected under Indian intellectual property laws.

7.2 Your Documents: You retain full ownership of all documents you upload. By uploading, you grant KanoonPilot a limited, temporary license to process the document solely for the purpose of providing analysis. This license terminates when the document is deleted.

7.3 Analysis Output: The AI-generated analysis of your document is provided for your personal, non-commercial use. You may share it with your lawyer but may not commercially redistribute it without permission.

8. Pricing & Payments

8.1 Free and Paid Features: KanoonPilot may offer free and paid features from time to time. The features currently available are described on the applicable product, pricing, or checkout page.

8.2 Pricing: If paid plans, paid reviews, or paid add-ons are offered, prices will be shown in Indian Rupees (₹) at the point of purchase.

8.3 Billing Terms: Any cancellation, refund, renewal, or billing rules for paid services will be shown on the relevant offer page, checkout flow, or billing support material applicable at that time.

8.4 Price Changes: If we change pricing for an active paid service, we will provide notice through the applicable product or billing channel before the change takes effect.

9. Limitation of Liability

9.1 KanoonPilot is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of accuracy, completeness, or fitness for a particular purpose.

9.2 To the maximum extent permitted by Indian law, KanoonPilot shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Platform or reliance on AI-generated analysis.

9.3 KanoonPilot shall not be liable for any legal outcomes, missed deadlines, or adverse consequences resulting from acting solely on AI-generated analysis without consulting a qualified lawyer.

9.4 Our total liability, if any, shall not exceed the amount you have paid to KanoonPilot in the 12 months preceding the claim, or ₹1,000, whichever is greater.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless KanoonPilot, its operators, employees, and partners from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from: (a) your use of the Platform in violation of these Terms; (b) your misrepresentation of AI analysis as legal advice to any third party; (c) any document you upload that you did not have the right to share.

11. Termination

11.1 You may stop using KanoonPilot at any time. If paid plans are launched, cancellation instructions will be provided in the applicable billing flow or support channel.

11.2 We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms, engage in abusive behavior, or use the Platform in a manner that threatens the security or integrity of the service.

11.3 Upon termination, all your data is deleted in accordance with our Privacy Policy. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination (including liability limitations, indemnification, and governing law) shall survive.

12. Governing Law & Disputes

12.1 These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of India, without regard to conflict of law principles.

12.2 Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the Platform shall first be attempted to be resolved through good-faith negotiation. If unresolved within 30 days, disputes shall be subject to mediation under the Mediation Act, 2023.

12.3 If mediation fails, disputes shall be resolved by the courts of competent jurisdiction in New Delhi, India.

13. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be highlighted on our website with a notification banner for at least 30 days before taking effect. The "Last Updated" date at the top reflects the current version. Continued use of KanoonPilot after changes constitutes acceptance. If you disagree with any changes, you must stop using the Platform.
