Grievance Officer

If something on KanoonPilot has caused you harm or concern, this is the named officer who is responsible for hearing your complaint and acting on it within the timelines required by Indian law.

Why this page exists

The Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021 require every online platform to publish the name and contact details of a grievance officer who is responsible for receiving and acting on complaints from users. The Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 adds additional rights — such as the right to correction, deletion, and consent withdrawal — that we must also handle within published timelines. This page is the single front door for all of those requests.

Designated Grievance Officer

Name
KanoonPilot Grievance Office

Operated by the founder. The named individual is published in writing when responding to your complaint.

Designation
Grievance Officer & Data Protection Contact

Acts under IT Rules 2021 and DPDP Act 2023.

Primary email

Monitored on working days. Include your case reference if you have one. (Dedicated grievance@kanoonpilot.com address is being set up.)

Tracked request channel

Recommended. Issues you a reference number you can use to track progress.

Note: The email address above is the published address required by law. Using the tracked request center gives you a numbered receipt and a status link; please prefer it for any deletion, export, correction, or consent-withdrawal request.

Our service-level commitments

These timelines are the law's requirement, not our preference. We will publish quarterly reports of how often we meet them on our Transparency page (coming soon).

24h
Acknowledgment

We confirm we have received your complaint within 24 hours of receipt on a working day.

15 days
Resolution

We act on your complaint within fifteen days of receipt, as required by IT Rules 2021. If we cannot, we explain why and provide an updated timeline.

72h
Sensitive content

Complaints about non-consensual intimate imagery, impersonation, or threats to bodily safety are escalated and resolved within 72 hours, per IT Rules 2021 Rule 3(2)(b).

What to include in your complaint

A good complaint helps us help you faster. Please include as much of the following as you can:

  • A clear description of what happened and when
  • Your name and an email or phone number we can use to respond
  • Any case reference (e.g. NS-XXXXX) or document ID you have
  • What outcome you are asking for (deletion, correction, an apology, a refund, etc.)
  • Any screenshots or supporting attachments that help us understand the issue

If a complaint is filed on behalf of someone else (e.g. a parent for a child under 18, or a relative for someone in a difficult situation), please tell us your relationship and provide consent or authority where applicable.

If you are not satisfied with our response

You always have the right to escalate. Your options include — but are not limited to:

  • The Data Protection Board of India (DPBI), for complaints about how we handled your personal data under the DPDP Act, 2023.
  • The Grievance Appellate Committee (GAC) constituted under the IT Rules, 2021, for unresolved intermediary complaints.
  • Any consumer-protection forum or court with jurisdiction over the matter.
Our promise: We will not retaliate in any way against a user for filing a complaint or for choosing to escalate. We will continue to provide the service on the same terms.

Our transparency commitment

Once we have shipped our Transparency page, we will publish quarterly:

  • The total number of grievances received, broken down by category
  • The percentage acknowledged within 24 hours and resolved within 15 days
  • The number of legal demands or takedown notices we received, and how we responded
  • Any incident where we missed a published timeline, with a written explanation

Publishing these numbers is a deliberate choice. We would rather show you the inconvenient truth than hide behind silence.

A note from us

If you are upset enough to file a grievance, something has gone wrong. We are sorry that happened to you. Tell us what we got wrong, in your own words, in whichever language you prefer. We will read it carefully, respond honestly, and fix what we can. You are not a ticket number to us.
